day to night: ruffle off the shoulder top
I've had the idea to create some posts centered around how to style certain pieces from day to night for a while now and I'm so excited to be sharing the first of these today!
Today is all about styling a white off the shoulder top.
DAY

I'm using three of my 10 key pieces in this outfit which might be the reason I love it so much! You guys already know how much I love these mom-ish jeans from Madewell. 100% cotton that sits snug through the hips and relaxes out into a straight leg wasn't something I thought I could enjoy this much, but I've seriously gotten so much wear out of these just this summer. If anything, it's nice to give my legs a breather (literally) from the constant stream of skinny jeans I wear.
The off the shoulder top adds a nice touch of femininity, especially when paired with these espadrilles. Bows and ruffles aren't my typical go-to, but this whole thing just works for me, despite my tomboy-ish tendencies.
Also, can we talk about how wonderful light wash denim looks with white and taupe? It's giving me all the heart eye emojis.

Here's what I love about this outfit: nothing is fussy. It's easy to walk in (something that's super important to me since B and I walk pretty much everywhere) but it doesn't sacrifice style. I know not everyone is down with mixing black and brown, but I think mixing neutrals is totally acceptable. Plus, I think black and white color blocking walks the fine line between stylish and waiter-ish and the brown helps break it up. I kept the accessories pretty simple (of course). A golden yellow bandana loosely tied around the neck, a simple gold bracelet, and a black leather belt with gold hardware polish the whole look. Belts just have a way of elevating jeans and making them an extra dose of style.
Also, I just have to say this. If you're looking to try out high rise jeans, get some black ones. They are so slimming, it's amazing. I wear mine all the time because of how good they make me feel. You just can't beat a good pair of jeans, can you?
