Summer Swim Edit For The Kids
It’s been a scorching hot week here in Sacramento. We’re on day four of 100° weather days with no sign of relief — and by relief, I mean mid-80s forecast — for another week.
Needless to say, summer is here and she’s here in full force.
We’ve crossed off a few things from our summer bucket list. Namely, spending time in the American River. If both kids get a solid afternoon nap, we head to the river to fill that awkward time between dinner and a later bedtime. Bonus: it gets us out of the house and lets us cool off a bit.
We’ve also made a few visits to the new local pool, which honestly might fulfill my desire to go to a water park. This place has kiddie water slides, a shallow area for kids to play in, a not-too-deep pool for casual swimming, plus some waterslides for older kids and adults. It basically has everything I’d want from a waterpark except a lazy river, but I can live without that!
One thing about me: I love shopping for cute kid clothes, and that includes swimwear! To some, I probably care way too much about finding the perfect shade of blue or green or whatever for my children’s swimsuits. But it brings me joy to find something unique that’s simple and a little understated. One day my kids will have very strong opinions on what kind of clothing they want, but for now, I take full advantage of the fact that they like what I pick out for them.
rusty orange swimsuit / yellow one-piece rashguard / green gingham swimsuit / blue ruffle swimsuit / beige Mickey swim jumpsuit
beige rashguard / blue rashguard / brown rashguard / olive green rashguard
tie dye shark swim shorts / retro swim trunks / savannah print swim shorts / whale print swim shorts
I think I’m the proudest of the swim trunk finds from the Little Planet line at Carter’s. They’re my perfect kind of pattern — interesting, cute, but not too loud or out there. I’m not much for graphic tees or prints, so these prints in more subtle, natural colors are right up my alley (and Izzy’s too). Izzy has a couple of swim shorts but always requests his whale print ones and his green swim shirt. The quality and the price point are great and so far all the swimwear has washed well! Wins all around!
