We've been back from our weekend in Southern California for a while and I keep thinking about nice it was to get out of town. I work most weekends (when Brandon is off) so we haven't gotten a chance to travel in a while and it was nice to have a change of scenery and weather! Plus we got to witness friends get married, which is always fun.

We were able to sneak in a little bit of sightseeing in between Brandon's wedding party duties. Here are some highlights of what we did and what I wore from my minimal packing list.

FRIDAY

Both of us woke up way early on Friday so we decided to hit the road earlier than planned. It worked out well! We didn't hit any traffic and had an awesome time listening to Brandon's funk playlist on the drive.

While Brandon was at the bachelor party that night, I met up with my friend at Dripp Coffee for a nice catch up hang. I switched the leggings for jeans with a belly band and called it a day!

SATURDAY

I liked Dripp so much I went back the next morning, this time with Brandon. We talked and enjoyed the coffee shop vibes until it was time to head to the wedding rehearsal and lunch at a cool pizza spot in downtown Fullerton. The pizza was great and the gluten free crust was bomb! I'm not g-free but I tried it and was very impressed with how delicious it was!

SUNDAY

The day of the wedding, I dropped Brandon off to get ready with the groomsmen and did some journaling before taking my sweet time getting ready for the wedding. It was luxurious to refresh my hair and do a more evening-ready makeup look without rushing.

I didn't get a single decent photo of what I wore but I'm really proud of it. The only thing I bought to wear to this wedding was a dress slip that fit the bump, even though I was super tempted to buy an outfit. I wore a midi wrap dress from Urban Outfitters and extended the reach of the wrap with a rubber elastic. I loved how it brought out my bump, plus I got to wear my signature color!

a winter beach outfit -- neutral sweater, midwash jeans, braided sandals and tassel earrings

Before we left home, I told Brandon that I really wanted to go to the beach while we were in Southern California. I took my friend Kayla's suggestions and decided to check out Kit Coffee in the Newport area (I think it's technically in Costa Mesa) before hitting up the Newport Pier. We walked around the pier and up and down the beach for a little while, enjoying the sound of the waves and the salty air. I would've stayed all day if we could have, but we decided to start the trek home.

Traffic was terrible on the way home so we decided to make a final pit stop and visit Shake Shack for lunch (since we hadn't really eaten all day). The verdict: it's delicious and expensive. I had the crispy chicken sandwich (something I've been craving throughout my pregnancy) plus fries and a chocolate shake. It was entirely delicious and satisfied my craving for sure. It's not low-waste friendly, which is a bummer, but you can't win every time and I really wanted to see what the Shake Shack fuss was about. All in all, it was worth it.

There it is! What I wore based on my minimal packing list! Looking back, I think I still over packed. I probably could have gone with just sandals and maybe skipped the jeans. Maybe next time I'll go super minimal, we'll see!
