Spring 10x10 Day 4
I'm blogging five days a week during the Spring 10x10/Unfancy Remix to show you guys how I'm styling my outfits for the challenge that Lee and Caroline are hosting!
I feel a little crazy doing this considering my life's schedule over the next two weeks, but hey! It's a good challenge and I think it's worth sharing how versatile a capsule wardrobe can be!
If you want to see the 10 pieces I’m wearing for this challenge, you can find 'em right here.
Time for Day 4’s outfit!

OVERVIEW
By this point I was sick of wearing my faux leather jacket with every outfit. The trouble with that is I run cold – I joke that I’m a lizard because I seriously won’t warm up if I’m not in direct heat. I found the workaround by adding a base layer under my dress. It was long sleeved and it’s technically a hiking base layer. You know, one of those shirts that helps keep you warm in 32 degrees?
It totally worked. I was warm and cozy all day.
WEATHER
I wore the dress on this day because I knew it would be one of the few warm days during the challenge. 69 isn’t warm for a spoiled Californian like me (see previous joke about being a lizard) but I decided to make do anyway.
WHAT I DID
I worked from home and checked out a new coffee shop for a change of scenery.
STYLING DETAILS
I think the first time I layered a sweater over a dress was sometime in high school. I’ve been doing it ever since. If you’ve been reading for a while, you may know that I’m not the best at wearing skirts. For some random reason, I’m more likely to wear a dress with a sweater over it than a sweater with a skirt. I can’t explain.
As much as I like the sweater and dress combo, I think I messed up the proportions of the sweater when it came time for photos. My front knot was so much neater during the day but I had to redo it for photos and…it just didn’t turn out the same. And messing up that knot makes me look waaaaayyyy shorter than I ever want to look.
Anyway, it was a good learning experience. And I consider it a win that I experimented slightly with how I tied my high tops. Sometimes it’s about the little wins!
That’s all for Day 4! See you back here tomorrow for Day 5’s look.
