what we're streaming while we shelter in place
Well the world has changed a lot in the last month. I can only assume most of us have been thrown for a loop or two (or three or four) during these weeks and I can only assume we’re all finally making our way through our streaming lists. Personally, our lists are always filled with shows we want to watch eventually even though we constantly return to our favorite ensemble comedies.
I thought I’d share what we’ve been consuming media-wise — movies/TV, podcasts and playlists (I won’t even pretend to include books because we’re not reading any). If anything, this feels like normal conversation I’d be having with my friends and siblings offline, so hopefully you get a small sense of normality reading this (and maybe a new show to watch)!
summer bucket list: picnic in the park
I’m low key obsessed with picnics. I credit my college French professor for my love of them. They were a stand by of French Club and always involved my favorite things: bread, cheese, lemonade, fresh fruit, and hanging out outside. Sure enough, when I visited France with her and the club, our hosts gave us a very laid back picnic on the first day of summer. It’s one of my top three favorite memories and I swear I’m chasing the dreaminess of snacking under the Eiffel Tower every time I plan my own picnic stateside.
summer bucket list
I’ve had this post ruminating in the back of my brain for months now. Alas, starting a new job at the beginning of the summer left me with my head spinning a little (read: a lot) and gave me next to no energy to write for pleasure.
So here we are, better late than never, sharing my summer bucket list. It’s probably overly ambitious considering our schedules have been insane all summer, but what fun is a bucket list you know you can check off in a week?
5 ways to be more sustainable
This post has been requested a few times and I figured what better way to kick off the 2019 blog posts than with an overview of simple, sustainable changes we can make this year! Whether you take on all five or go one by one, I hope this encourages you to start somewhere!
two approaches to reducing disposable coffee cup waste
Two ways to ditch the disposable coffee cups.
on reusable water bottles
I feel about plastic water bottles the way Taylor Swift feels about her and whomever getting back together. It’s never, ever happening.
Like, ever.
Zero Waste Hiking Essentials
We hiked something like five miles in three hours (yes, my legs are still very, very sore) and spent most of that time chatting away about everything and nothing. It was a really great chance to catch up with each other while enjoying Auburn’s beauty. Since this hike was longer and a bit more strenuous than our previous hike, I decided to be prepared with the essentials. I think it’s pretty neat that they all ended up being zero waste because I didn’t even have that in mind as I packed everything up. It just goes to show how small steps really can add up!
5 Ways to Make Less Waste During Festival Season
I'd never been to a music festival before, but earlier this year I came across the lineup for Bottle Rock (which takes place in Napa) and saw that Brandon's all time favorite band, Red Hot Chili Peppers, was headlining. I panicked out of sheer excitement, called Brandon and asked the most obvious question ever: do you want to see them live?
While I was super excited to enjoy the music I was also interested in creating as little waste as possible.
