Holiday Gift Guide for Preschoolers

It’s that time of year again where so many of us are scouring the internet trying to figure out what to get the preschoolers in our life. My mother-in-law asked for the kid’s Christmas lists early this year and this gift guide is one hundred percent inspired by the list I gave her for our three year old boy. My hope with these gift guides is to take some of the guesswork (and let’s be honest, stress) from figuring out what age-appropriate, open ended toys to give those sassy three year olds we know and love.

  1. Climbing Arch/Rocker — I was torn between getting the more traditional Pikler climbing triangle or this, but I love that this climbing arch can be flipped over and that it’s specially made for two kids.

  2. Magna-Tiles — I’ve heard nothing but good things about these from moms of older kids! Comes in a smaller pack, too.

  3. Schleich Animal Figurines — I saw MontessoriMama post about these on Instagram and was instantly influenced to get some. They’re some of our most played with toys and I love the variety of animals they have.

  4. Echo Microphone — Another one of my kids’ favorite toys! I had a microphone just like this while growing up and absolutely loved it.

  5. Play Kitchen — We finally have space for a play kitchen and I can’t wait to see the kids play with it! I went with the one from Hearth & Hand, but there are so many cute options these days!

  6. Grimm’s Stacking Rainbow — I’ve wanted one of these for a while and I think Izzy is finally old enough to enjoy it. Comes in a natural color and in a smaller size, too.

  7. Sarah’s Silks Fort Building Clips — If you’ve seen my other gift guides, you’ll know I adore Sarah’s Silks. We’ll be expanding our collection to include a Giant Play Silk and these wooden clips this year.

  8. Ball Run — Did you have a marble run growing up? It was one of my favorite things ever. I plan on getting them this one once our youngest is past the teething stage, but I found this ball run that’s more age appropriate for now.

  9. Knit Sweater — There’s something nostalgic about getting a cozy knit for Christmas, it’s a tradition I keep with my kids every year. I love this cable knit one from Mebie Baby.

  10. Learning Tower — Another item we’ve had on our wish list for a couple of years now. Izzy’s finally at an age where he’s interested in helping us in the kitchen so we’re looking to get him a learning tower to give him a safe space to help.

  11. Books — We absolutely love the Over and Under series of books, so we’ll be adding to our collection this year. Tiny, Perfect Things is a beautifully illustrated book that we like to play “I Spy” with.

  12. Jumping Rocks — I’ve got a gross motor oriented preschooler who is always looking for something to climb or jump off of. These jumping and balancing rocks will give him the chance to practice jumping from rock to rock and I love that we can use them inside or out in the yard.

I know this time of year can be a bit overwhelming with gift guides and sales. My hope in creating these is simply to give you a more structured version of the recommendations I would give to my close friends and family.

Happy shopping! I have a round up of items below but you’re also welcome to check my Amazon Storefront, where most of these items are available.
