FRIENDS! I’m officially in my third trimester. This pregnancy has just flown right by. I can’t believe we’re less than 100 days from meeting our little guy.

Instead of just listing out thoughts I’ve had during this part of the pregnancy like I did last time, I thought it’d be fun to share a little more this time around. I searched around for other trimester updates and compiled this little list of questions.

How far along am I?

I’m 29 weeks! Whaaaaaa?!

Innie or outie

Still an innie, but barely!

How I’m feeling

Body-wise, I’m doing great. This pregnancy has been pretty easy on my body. I’ve had some back aches, leg cramps in the middle of the night, and the random migraine.

I just started getting a little bit of reflux over the last two weeks, but I think I can alleviate it by eating smaller portions more often instead of my usual large meals (groundbreaking, I know!)

Mentally, I’ve been less ok. Which is really awkward and hard for me to admit in regular life, much less on the internet.

To say I was stressed out for the majority of my pregnancy would be an understatement. Between hot water issues in my apartment, working retail during the holidays, being put on hold every time I needed to make an appointment, feeling totally lost and judged at my doctor appointments, two anxiety attacks in public, and feeling like we needed to move even though we both knew we couldn’t afford to, it’ll be hard for me to look back on this pregnancy as all sunshine and rainbows.

The good news is, a lot of these stressors have been removed.

Holiday came and went and I made it through by the grace of God. My temporary leadership position at work is over, which translates into wayyyy less stress and way more positive thoughts about being there.

We got our landlord to replace our hot water heater and while the fix isn’t perfect, it’s workable. We don’t have to shower at our friend’s and family’s anymore and I count that as a blessing.

And maybe the biggest blessing and relief has been Brandon getting insurance through his job. We prayed hard for this and God provided in the kind of timing that takes you by surprise.

The short version is this: After getting approved for medi-cal in person, we were told (by letter) we didn’t qualify because of our income and my coverage was ending January 31. Brandon gets offered health insurance through work. He signs us up and our coverage starts February 1.

Like, what?!

Needless to say, I’ve been overwhelmingly thankful for the load off my shoulders.

What I’m craving

I’ve had a lot of specific cravings during the course of my pregnancy, but nothing too weird. I mostly want whatever yummy dessert I see on TV, be it strawberry ice cream, donuts, or a milkshake.

A couple of weeks ago I got a hard and random craving for McDonald’s while at work. I’ve craved chicken tenders and fries since day one, but I haven’t craved those cheap, not-good-for-you, hardly-passes-as-food McNuggets and fries in years. I gave in to my craving, spent way too much money on that “food,” and enjoyed every last bite of it.

This week’s craving is pancakes. I’m usually more of a French toast person, but pancakes smothered in butter and drowning in syrup sounds SO GOOD. I’ll have to whip some up at home.

What I’m wearing

Clothing has been a touchy subject for the first time in my life. I live in jeans but have struggled to find a pair of jeans that I feel great in. I do have two pairs of maternity jeans that I’ve started wearing more. I can still get away with wearing some super stretchy jeans in a size up with my belly band, but my full belly panel jeans are more comfortable if I have to sit for more than 15 minutes.

I’m a little hesitant to try to find another pair of maternity jeans, but the Gap maternity jeans just keep peaking my interest.

Gap stripe t shirt (thirfted, similar from Everlane, similar in long sleeve), ASOS Maternity Knit Overall Jumpsuit (also comes in polka dots!), Fossil Q Hybrid watch (c/o), Converse high top sneakers, Levis wide brim hat (old, similar)

I also have to shout out this awesome, feels-like-pajamas jumpsuit. It might be my favorite maternity purchase. I feel good when I wear them, which counts for A LOT when you’re feeling frumpy. I love this one so much, I want it in three more colors.

I ordered some pull-on jogger pants from ASOS but had a mix up in my order so I never got them. But that’s definitely a piece I’m still looking to add.

We had a brief week of spring-like weather and it got me really excited to wear more dresses. If you know me, you know I’m not much of a dress or skirt person, but dresses have become more appealing simply because I don’t have to worry about constantly pulling them up like I do with jeans. It’s probably why you’ve seen me wearing this sweater dress a ton.

My favorite part of being pregnant

Hands down it’s feeling Isaac move. His kicks are the silver lining to my insomnia. Sometimes, I’ll feel him wiggle slightly and start to rub my belly where I feel he is. And then the best thing happens. A lot of the time he’ll scoot over to where I’m rubbing, as if to get closer to me. It’s completely surreal and it makes me even more excited to meet him in May.

It’s also incredible to feel how he reacts to Brandon’s voice and touch. His reactions are unique to each of us and it blows my mind. I’m really hoping his cuddly nature continues once he’s born.

How the preparations are going

The prep has started but hasn’t been quick. Knowing we’ll have our little one in the studio with us means we have a lot of purging and reorganizing to do. We’ve tackled a good chunk of our closet and organized our under-the-bed storage. We’ve got the mini crib and just have to put it together (and get rid of our little sofa to make space).

I was pretty particular in what I picked for the registry. Our measuring tape was my best friend while building the registry because space is our biggest constraint. And because we’ll be in a studio, I also wanted to find items that would look alright if they were left out in the open. My mom and sister are planning a baby shower for us, so I’m holding off on making a lot of purchases until after the shower. Which may or may be a good idea, we’ll see!
