diner en blanc, sacramento with OneHope wines

Earlier this month, I got to go to the Diner en Blanc here in Sacramento thanks to OneHope Wine. They were gracious enough to invite me and a guest (my friend Sarah) to enjoy an evening of fancy picnicking, all white attire, and some bomb sparkling wine — all at a secret location.

I drove past the Diner en Blanc a couple of years ago and was completely intrigued by the concept. I took French in college and fell in love with the language and French club. To this day I think I would have loved to major in French and I’m still not sure why I didn’t. Needless to say, I was thrilled to get to participate in an event that started in Paris.

fall 2018 10x10 challenge kickoff

It’s that time again! The fall 10x10 is here and I’m ready for it.

I jumped in last minute last year right after finding out I was pregnant. Crazy that so much has changed in a year! My little boy is 5 months old now! He rolled over for the first time today!

But back to the clothes.

gender neutral nursery nook in a studio apartment

Living in a 1920s apartment means the internet offers very little when it comes to decor hacks. Almost everything on Pinterest told me to set my baby up in the closet or in a hallway but neither of those were options for me with my apartment's floor plan.

fall flannel

If you’re in California or you know anyone in California, you’ve probably heard lots of groaning about the inevitable Indian summer weather. I’m a proud summer weather lover but even I have to admit that the cool mornings and warm autumn glow are getting me excited for days spent in sweaters and boots and scarves.

Even though the weather will be inconsistent from here until November, I like to find ways to channel fall vibes without winding up like a sweaty mess.

Enter the buffalo check flannel shirt.

what i wore + what we did: san francisco

Brandon and I celebrated our five (!!) year wedding anniversary a few weeks ago. I’d been itching for a trip to San Francisco so we made the drive down to one of my favorite cities.

We would always spend our anniversary in San Francisco while we were dating and it was really cool to spend a wedding anniversary there too — this time with our little guy!

We embraced a slow pace and stuck to activities we knew wouldn’t overstimulate Isaac. We were able to mostly avoid the crowds and ended up having a really great, truly chill time. Here’s what we did, in case you find yourself heading to San Francisco with a four month old baby!

fall 2018 capsule wardrobe

The sunflower bloom is over, the leaves are starting to change and the sun is setting earlier and earlier. Everything is signaling fall here in California – except the weather. It's still sunny and fairly warm here.

Although the leaves are changing and falling, the weather is not. We get anything from mild mid-70s to hot mid-90s weather during fall here, meaning my shorts and sandals get good use until the rain shows up.

summer 10x10: outfit 5

The halfway mark of the summer 10x10 is here!

I was really excited about this outfit when I was thinking through my looks for the challenge. In my head this outfit was going to feel light and airy and summery but in reality, it's pretty boring.
